Apple

    Description

The apple is excellent to prevent and keep the cholesterol rate at acceptable levels, by ingesting an apple a day. That effect is due to high levels of pectin, which can be found in its peel. It also has a strong effect on weight loss, as pectin makes it difficult to absorb fats, glucose and eliminates cholesterol. The high level of potassium in the apple pulp eliminates sodium excess, removing the excess of body water.

The apple has a beneficial effect on the heart; it acts in two ways: high level of potassium and also the presence of pectin, which avoids the deposit of fat in the arterial wall, working on the prevention of arteriosclerosis. Due to all this, it improves blood circulation, reducing cardiac work and extending the useful life of the heart. It also has medicinal properties, being used softly as a kind of laxative, for it helps eliminating faeces. It acts in the following way: during the digestion, it absorbs water and during the elimination process it releases that same water, previously stored, avoiding dry faeces, which can cause problems in later life, like constipation.
