Ginger A root of flavor and wellness

Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a herbaceous plant from the Zingiberaceae family, native to India, China, and Java, which quickly spread across tropical regions of the world. It reached Europe through the Crusades, and in Portugal there are records of its consumption since the reign of King João III (1521-1557).

Recognized as one of the oldest and most popular medicinal plants in the world, ginger owes its unique properties to its essential oil, rich in camphene, phellandrene, zingiberene, and zingerone.

Beyond its culinary use, it is valued for its therapeutic applications: ginger tea is traditionally used to fight flu, colds, coughs, and even hangovers. It is also known to relieve headaches, arthritis, menstrual cramps, and nasal congestion. Modern studies further suggest ginger as an ally in the prevention of colon and ovarian cancer.

More than just a seasoning, ginger is a true symbol of vitality and natural well-being.
