Lemon Freshness with history

Lemon (Citrus x limon) is one of the most appreciated citrus fruits in the world, known for its fresh and versatile flavor. Originating in Southeast Asia, it quickly gained global importance due to its use in gastronomy, medicine, and food preservation.

Although unknown to the Greeks and Romans, there are records of its presence as early as the 3rd-4th century. Brought from Persia by the Arabs, lemon spread throughout Europe, with the first orchards appearing in Genoa in the 15th century. In Portugal, its history dates back to 1494, with references to cultivation in the Azores.

Today, lemon is a symbol of freshness, vitality, and versatility, a fruit that has crossed centuries and borders to become essential in everyday life.
